AST machine controls.

Precise programming, clear visualisation, secure monitoring and connection to the existing IT environment are basic requirements for economic and safe machine controls.

Software

Software

We generally use industrial PCs with Beckhoff TwinCAT software system for automation and visualisation. TwinCAT comprises runtime systems that execute control programmes in real time as well as NC controls and the development environment for programming, diagnosis and configuration of the system.

Our programmes have a modular design. Each machine station is summarised in independent sub-programmes. Future extensions to the system can therefore be easily and reasonably realised. Programming is primarily managed in FUP and structured text in accordance with IEC61131-3. We attach great importance to a comprehensive programme structure and good legibility of the programmes, facilitating swift familiarisation with the programming on the part of the customer's Maintenance Department. It goes without saying that we also supply the customer with the source codes on completion of the project.

Visualisation

Visualisation

We attach great importance to clear visualisation for reducing downtimes and setup times. The consistency of the operating philosophy of our controls permits swift familiarisation with operation of the system while integrated images of the system components facilitate operation.

Visualisation is broken down into the following areas:

  • Setup operation
    Separate control sides are programmed for each station of the machine where each actuator can be controlled individually. Actuator, servo axis and sensor status are shown here, ensuring swift and convenient setup of all stations.
  • Automatic operation
    The automatic image informs the operator of the status of workpieces currently undergoing production and also displays piece numbers and data sets pertaining to parts already manufactured or yet to be manufactured.
  • Formulae / Item data / Tool management
    Numerous formulae and tables offer the possibility to consider and create special product features. Additional item features are depicted comprehensively and clearly, and can be edited as required. Import and export functions make it possible to create and/or analyse formulae and tables offline.
  • Monitoring
    Actuator movements are monitored. By displaying faults in plain text, errors are detected swiftly and can be remedied without delay. A fault archive supports the service technician in detecting faults. Up to 1000 messages are recorded with time stamps. This archive can be archived by the operator as a .csv file and made available to the technician for diagnostic purposes.
  • Machine and operating data
    Numerous possibilities such as correction values, offsets, counters etc. are available here for optimum plant settings or maintenance.

Data connections and analysis

Data connections and analysis

Machines with control technology supplied by AST can be connected to overriding computers where job-related item data can be read and processed in the PLC. The automatic window displays the necessary item-related data.

Communication with master computers or other peripheral equipment is set up in agreement with the customer.

We collaborate closely with the customer while designing the software. This enables the customer to adapt the machine to his individual working methods.
